In my last Blog Post I added a photo of a man holding an iPod - a tiny device, no thicker than a stick of gum, that can hold over 1000 songs - or in my case over seventy 40-minute Audio Interviews

Now Steve Jobs is rather unique character. He co-founded, Apple Computers in 1975.

After building the company into a billion dollar business, in 1985 he was fired by own companies board of directors.

In 1986, he acquired the computer graphics division of LucasFilm Ltd which was spun off as Pixar Animation Studios. He remained its CEO and majority shareholder until its acquisition by the Walt Disney Company in 2006.

Interestingly, Jobs is currently the Walt Disney Company’s largest individual shareholder and a member of its Board of Directors. But back to the story…

12 years after leaving Apple, Steve Jobs was asked to come back to Apple to rebuild the then struggling business.

Already a billionaire (today he is worth US $5.4 billion) Steven accepted the offer to come back but asked that his annual salary US$1, earning him a listing in Guinness World Records as the “Lowest Paid Chief Executive Officer.”

This return promoted the launch of a new direction for Apple. Out of that came the introduction of new operating systems, stronger quality control over hardware manufacturing, the iPod, and more recently the iPhone.

An amazing story right? Well that is just a tiny piece.

The birth of a new business and all it entails is quite daunting for a newbie, regardless of age, gender, experience and/or knowledge. I admit to not being a spring chicken and my corporate experience is vast having worked quite happily in that world for thirty plus years.

Moving to Australia from Europe at an age where you don’t think of wanting to go back to school or university, my dilemma was what would I do for a living in Australia, my new home.

Leaving my career as an insurance consultant in Germany, I started to focus on starting my own business in Australia.

I studied many business ideas and models, researching and more researching…

Starting your own business can be very interesting, character building, empowering and at the same time rewarding. I’ve had many good times and faced many challenges but one thing I can say is: “business is really character building”. You are pushed to your limits and you discover things about yourself, you probably never knew they existed. You learn by doing, every day, you never stop learning and discovering new things. This is what I really love about running your own business.

It was then when I came across Dale’s book “Secrets of Female Entrepreneurs Exposed!” What a great book! I read it in one day! I was amazed how these entrepreneurial women, went through exactly what I was going through. This great book just inspired me to keep going and to never give up. There is always a way, it is all up to you what you do with it. And even stones in your way can be seen as opportunities, you might use them to build something or just stumble over them and fall.

Tomorrows Youth, is an organisation that I started with my best-friend Brent Williams back in 2001.

Our main program is a full weekend event called ‘Empower U’. It is aim is to empower teenagers and young adults with the tools to lead a successful and fulfilling life.

Each year, around this time, we receive dozens of cards and emails from past graduates updating us on their progress and the goals that they are achieving.

Well just before Christmas I received an email which you are about to read below. It is a touching experience whenever I receive a piece like this, and especially when it is a young person who’s life has been impacted by our programs.

Its Alan La, wishing you guys a very Merry Christmas and a Happy, successful New Year. How are you guys? I know Dale is doing really well with the Secrets Exposed series, and congratulations on your baby! I trust that Empower U is still growing rapidly, and impacting many young lives.

I know I’ve thanked you numerous times before, but it can never amount to the appreciation for the way you guys have impacted my life. 7 years ago, never would I have imagined I would be doing some of the things I’m doing now. Thank you very much Dale, Brent, Ryan and the team.

I have been growing my martial arts classes, now with student’s ages ranging from 12 to 27. I’ve also been a part of a small production movie, where I had to perform kung fu tricks, and fight a real karate black belt twice my size. It was a fantastic experience, and I learnt alot about the film industry. I especially love how films have the ability to capture moments and share them. I also have another movie scheduled for the next two weekends.

I was waiting at the airport the other day, and decided to head over to the book store. Browsing through the personal development and wealth creation section, I came upon Dale’s Secrets Exposed series. Remembering what you’d said, I moved all your books to the front and made sure they were well-presented on the shelves. I also picked up a copy of the property millionaires book, to add to my collection.

A goal of mine is to buy my first investment property by 2009. And a short term goal is to have my Michael Jordan ebook selling online by the end of January, as I’ve been putting it off to test out a few other wealth creation ideas using adwords and adsense.

One of the great things about the ‘Secrets Exposed’ book series is that they are filled with amazing contributors. Naturally, these contributors are spread all around the country, and often also do a lot of work overseas, so it can be hard to meet them all face to face.

I am excited to say however that a couple of days ago I had the pleasure of meeting David Rock, who has built one of the largest Life Coaching training companies in the world.

If you are familiar with ‘Secrets of Great Success Coaches Exposed‘, David is the person that wrote the Foreword for that book.

While I visited David, he kindly invited me to stay for lunch, which was great because I was then able to get to know him on a less formal level and find out about the exciting ventures he has coming up and the work he is currently doing in the United States.
